Phishing

A fake message designed to make you reveal information, send money, or open something harmful.

Malware

Software intentionally created to damage, spy on, steal from, or control a device.

Ransomware

Malware that locks files or systems and demands payment, often after stealing data.

Vulnerability

A weakness in software, hardware, or a process that could be abused.

Patch

An update that fixes a software problem, including security weaknesses.

Zero-day

A vulnerability that defenders had zero days to fix before it was used or publicly known.

MFA

Multi-factor authentication. It requires another proof of identity beyond a password.

Data breach

An incident where protected information is accessed, exposed, or stolen without authorization.

OSINT

Research performed with information that is legally available to the public.
